I realize my updates haven’t been daily the last week, but it isn’t as though nothing is happening, I am just in a routine. Breakfast and lunch have become normalized, leaving dinner the only meal of the day that is up for grabs. Pretty much the only thing that changes day-to-day is the amount of exercise or lack of it. I will try and do better posting.
I was really scared for this weekend since we had the opening of our latest theater production on Friday, which meant a weekend of cast parties and food that is not all conducive to being health-conscious. I did get one slice of breakfast pizza on the way to work, tempting fate. Luckily, however, the cast party on Friday night was mainly “bring you own” which meant there were actually slim pickings of snacks, and I limited drink to one bottle of Fat Tire. I hadn’t had alcohol since beginning, so wasn’t sure how that would go.
Saturday, the day was very misty and foggy until late morning, and then I had various projects around the house to start before I could take the time to go out riding. It was too wet from the fog and rain to do any yard work (for exercise) so I constrained it to working on the study/ spare bedroom instead. Not quite physically demanding, but I wasn’t sitting on the couch watching TV and eating potato chips either.
Sunday was going to be a hard one. I was really craving breakfast pizza, but while in the store I overcame it and bought more of my healthy breakfast supplies instead. Lunch was a healthy portion of chef’s salad and fat-free ranch dressing. I did get some bicycling in twice: once in the morning to the post office, and then once in late afternoon to another cast party. At this second cast party, everybody brought potato chips and spread them out on the backyard table. I, however, brought my own chips – walnut pieces. I got some questions why I brought my own and I just answered “I lost over 10 lbs so far, and chips aren’t in the equation.” I had a delicious hamburger, and some accompanying potato salad and called it a night, as I rode my bike back home.
This week will be the first time I’ve had my nights free in a long time. The other challenge may be on Tuesday when I might have jury duty. Not sure how lunch works at that exactly.
